More about the Mill Dance

The Dances they were Doing

The Mill Dance quilt is machine pieced and hand quilted. Other techniques include appliqué, pleating, piping, embroidery, and simple trapunto. The dancers' faces are all family members, past and present, whose photos were printed on fabric and embroidered. The staircases are created using a traditional quilt block design called "log cabin" with extra triangles added to form the "stairs."
